Facts about the Women's Museum



The Women's Museum in Denmark is a nationally accredited specialty museum with the purpose of researching, building collections and presenting knowledge of women's lives and work in Danish cultural history.

Over the years the Women's Museum has produced a long line of special exhibitions dealing with both historical and topical themes - cultural-historical exhibitions and art exhibitions.

Being a national specialty museum, the Women's Museum co-operates widely with other museums in Denmark/Scandinavia/the whole world. The Women's Museum started as a grassroots movement under the new women's movement in the 1980s.

The museum has an annual budget of app.  12 mill. D Kr.
Each year app. 42,000 guests from Denmark and other countries visit the museum.
