| It is not your fault
15. October 2010 - 01. May 2011
This will be an exhibition about rape, guilt, shame, suppression
and despair; about feeling guilty about something, for
which you are not to be blamed.
Rape is a sexual assault, often a man's assault on a woman.
Historically it was common that e.g. the lord of a manor had
the right to the young bride's virginity or that a master took his
right and made advances toward the new maid. It is not something
that the population today finds reasonable and it should not be
carried on as a part of our culture. Yet rape still happens.
The exhibition will provide material for a discussion: How can we
prevent rape from taking place? How do we change the attitude
toward rape, so the victim will not be ashamed? How do we let
go of the feeling of assault, if one has been exposed to
it?
